Our New Adventure...

From a very early age I had a passion for animals.  I wanted to rescue each and every one I came across.  I grew up with Labs and Cats.  During high school and college, I still loved animals but didn't really have time for my own.  I had a cat throughout college, Oscar.  We moved home to my parents in December of 2007.  When I moved in with Billy in June of 2009, Oscar decided he would rather stay with "Grandma" & "Grandpa". :)

After welcoming Tucker in to our home in March of 2011 and adopting two boxers from the Joplin Humane Society in September for Billy's parents, my passion for animals resurfaced.  I wanted to help out and give back, but I knew we didn't have the room in our little townhome for another full time dog.  We've donated financially when we can to animal organizations, but that wasn't quite enough for me. Billy and I are both huge animal lovers and we discussed what else we could do to help out and give back.  After seeing a posting on Facebook about a mamma dog and her one puppy needing a foster home for a couple weeks, we decided to become short term foster parents for animals coming out of shelters on their way to rescue organizations or forever homes.  These two dogs were welcomed by another family, but I knew we had found our calling.  I had been in contact with a few ladies from local rescues about the mama dog and her baby.  We are now on the local foster rotation.  These dogs will be with us anywhere from a couple days up to a couple weeks.  They will hang out with us here in KC while they await transport to their forever home or foster home somewhere out of state.  These dogs all have a wonderful end result…we know they are safe and headed to a happy ending.  We are just a small part of their journey.  We go in to each foster knowing we can’t keep the dog/dogs.  We just give them some love and a warm home for a few days.  And in some cases, Tucker will have a playmate!

I've decided to blog about our adventures as a way to share our experience with other and for us to remember each of the special pups that come in to our lives over the years.  Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you enjoy!
